Working predominantly in oil paint, I use color as a language to convey intensity and emotion. My work is always centered on the idea of energy. I like to explore energy and it's expansiveness, whether on a small intimate scale or a reverberation that transcends our world into the cosmos. Much of my inspiration comes from nature and the world around me. I have always been influenced by textiles, patterns, tiles, and repetition. How does the energy within us expand and what are it's implications? Another important influence is the German Expressionist movements between the two world wars. I'm interested in ways color and energy, life and movement, can be translated in two-dimensional art.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in History of Art from The Ohio State University and a Graphic Communication Associate's Degree from Columbus State Community College.
